Susan Sanne is the most amazing human I know and the best baker in the world. She’s my sister from another mister, and I would do anything for her.
Susan has a soft tissue sarcoma tumor in her left thigh the size of two large grapefruits. In the past six months, she’s lost over 40 pounds. Thanks to the tumor, she’s constantly battling nausea, night sweats, nerve pain, bed sores, and pain… so much pain.
They biopsied the tumor a couple of days ago. Now we wait for the next steps. Will surgery be an option? Can the leg be saved? Will radiation be able to reduce the tumor enough so they can attempt surgery? So many questions.
In the meantime, Susan’s bills are piling up. This past year has been the worst! We survived Hurricane Helene one year ago. Both Susan and I run our own businesses. Like all of Asheville, we had to close our businesses after Helene. It took time, emotional pain, and lots of work to get back up and running. We both took out loans to pay our bills to get through this time period. But then Susan started to get sicker and sicker. The weight continued to melt away no matter how much she ate. And the bump in her thigh quickly turned into something worse. Susan worked tirelessly for months. She was determined not to let her customers down. She baked and baked until the pain became too much. In June 2025, she closed Baked Hampton so she could focus on her health. She filed for Medicare and Social Security, but it’s not much. She still has a mortgage, car loan, home utilities (a broken HVAC) and the Hurricane Helene loan to pay off.
I’m here asking for your help, for your monetary assistance. Susan has given so much to others over the years. Let’s return the favor and help her out. Your time and donation are appreciated.
