In loving memory of my mom, Susan Baker
Donation protected
It is with a heavy heart that I share the news of my mother, Susan Baker's passing on November 10th,2023. Susan was admitted to the hospital in October with what doctors though was gallbladder issues. She came home on 10/13 after being diagnosed with Stage 4 breast cancer awaiting a PET SCAN and oncology appointment. When we arrived home my mom quickly declined and her appointments were scheduled for 11/16 for a scan and not until 2024 for an oncologist. On 11/1 it was clear something was wrong and my mom refused to go by ambulance to local hospitals. My sister Susie drove from West Covina to Apple Valley and we took my mom back to USC Arcadia Hospital.
It was very fast that the doctors had realized sending her home was a mistake, my moms liver and kidneys were failing from the cancer spreading. My mom wanted to fight and we tried dialysis quickly in the hospital with the hopes of her body responding so she could fight with Chemo. We were not so lucky, my mom was transferred to hospice at my brother's home in Whittier on 11/7 with a 2-5 day timeline to live.
My mom passed on Friday, November 10th at 8:14amv with her children by her side.
The passing of my mother has been an immense emotional and financial strain on me. I only relocated back to California in July of 2021 after leaving an abusive marriage and coming home to help my Mom with my Father as he started to decline.
In July of 2022 we lost my father in only 15 days of finding out his diagnosis, also cancer in the chest area that spread throughout his body.
My mother's death not only came less than 18 months after my dads passing but on the same day I attended my best friend of 13 year's funeral.
Losing three significant individuals in my life in the past 2 years has left me feeling overwhelmed and defeated. My sister and I have continued to work full time since 11/13 with no sign of any financial relief. While it is not easy for me to request assistance, I am in need of help to cover the unexpected costs associated with her death including trying to maintain our family's home in Apple Valley.
Any contribution towards this would be deeply appreciated.
My mother was a smart and accomplished woman who held two master's degrees and worked in the field of HR for 5E Advanced Materials. She is survived by her five children, her younger brother, and her cherished pets. We only wish to be able to provide her with the end of life celebration she deserves and protect the legacy built by our parents at our Apple Valley property.
Thank you all.
