A Survivor's Struggle for Justice and Healing
On February 25, 2022, Christopher Boodram endured a harrowing ordeal that claimed the lives of his four colleagues—Fyzal Kurban, Yusuf Henry, Kazim Ali Jr, and Rishi Nagassar—during maintenance work on a 30-inch pipeline at Paria Fuel Trading Company's Pointe-a-Pierre facility. Trapped inside the oil-filled pipeline, Christopher fought against physical injuries and psychological trauma to emerge as the sole survivor.
Despite a Commission of Enquiry (CoE) concluding that Paria Fuel Trading Company's actions amounted to "gross negligence and consequently criminal," Christopher and the families of the deceased have yet to receive meaningful support or compensation. The CoE's recommendations have not translated into tangible assistance, leaving the victims' families and Christopher in a prolonged state of uncertainty and hardship.
Christopher continues to grapple with the physical and emotional aftermath of the tragedy. His journey toward recovery is compounded by the lack of institutional support and the ongoing quest for justice.
This campaign aims to provide Christopher with the necessary resources to aid in his recovery and to support his advocacy for accountability and reform. Funds raised will assist with:
- Medical and psychological treatment
- Support in the pursuit of justice
- Living expenses during his recovery
- Advocacy efforts to ensure such tragedies are prevented in the future
Your contribution can make a significant difference in Christopher's life and in the broader fight for justice and workplace safety. Stand with Christopher as he seeks healing and accountability.
Please donate and share this campaign. Together, we can support a survivor and honour the memory of those lost.
