October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and I’m raising funds in memory of my dear friend Jennifer Foy, whose life was tragically taken by domestic violence in 2016.

In Jen’s honor, I want to help another close friend — a mother of four, ages 9 to 9 months — who recently found the courage to remove her abusive, alcoholic husband from their home. She’s standing her ground and protecting her children, but now faces life completely on her own.

Although she works full-time, she can’t afford childcare and was left with months of unpaid bills and a home desperately needing repair. She’s doing everything she can to keep her family stable, but right now it's impossible to catch up on mortgage payments, utilities, groceries, and legal costs.

I’ve never witnessed firsthand how difficult it is for one partner to safely escape abuse and then navigate the spiderweb of divorce and custody. It’s devastating — and WE can help her begin again.

For safety and privacy, my friend and I have never been connected on social media. I’m organizing this campaign privately, and every dollar raised will go directly to helping her and her children stay safe and hopeful as they rebuild their lives.

My goal is to raise $5,000 by the end of October.
