Ongoing Medical Crisis

Friends,

Updating this fundraiser as we never met the goal and this friend is still/more so in need. In the past year (still dealing with medical fallout from an assault, a car accident, and several chronic conditions including myalgic encephalomyelitis), she lost her brother to mental illness. After the unexpected travel for the funeral, she got COVID, from which she is still recovering. She's unable to work, the brainstem swelling is especially bad, surgeries and procedures number 8-12 per week. Please help if you are able, and share. Deepest thanks to those who have given here. Hi, all,

 

Bit of a trigger warning here. This is a fundraiser for a dear friend who wishes to remain anonymous, who has medical bills piling up from cascading health problems resulting from a sexual assault. She was already a person with disabilities and is now bedridden––she can barely get to the fridge or door to feed herself, much less get to work and make money.

 

She is a survivor many times over, and has worked so hard for so long to make life better for herself, even when it's taken her far from most of her chosen family. Because we're not near her, she has very little physical support, so every last bit of financial support makes an enormous difference.

 

No, this isn't a Frida Kahlo project, and the friend I'm raising for would never compare herself to Frida, but I will. She's a genius and she deserves better than all of this. She hates asking for help and I had to convince her to let me do this so let's help her so much.
