Surviving & Overcoming Brain Surgery
Donation protected
Mallorie LaFarge is the loving mother of two incredible girls - Ember (6) and Aspen (4) and the beautiful wife to Trevor. Altogether, the T.E.A.M. have faced many challenges and battles and has prevailed. Unfortunately, Mallorie is facing yet another challenge - brain surgery!!
At 30-years-old, Mallorie has faced a lifetime of challenges including cervical cancer and an emergency hysterectomy. However, she remains one of the most optimistic, loving, and community-based people you can meet. In early 2021, Mallorie began developing an array of symptoms: headaches, tremors, dizziness, coordination/balance issues, paralysis in limbs, and many more.
Mallorie’s path toward diagnosis and treatment has been nothing short of exhausting. She’s been sent to two neurosurgeons and four neurologists; most of which simply told her she had severe chronic migraines. As she pushed through various treatments/medications, she ended up in the hospital in December 2021 with stroke-like symptoms and remained there for over three days. Here she lost the ability to speak and was paralyzed from the neck down.
Even despite all of her constant pain and medical issues, Mallorie has not missed a step in her family’s life or her community. Mallorie just completed her 3rd year as a special education preschool teacher, she is on the Board of Directors for Sunflower Soccer Association where she oversees the TOP (The Outreach Program for Soccer) Soccer Program - which is a recreational sports program for children and adults with intellectual, emotional, or physical disabilities - and active soccer coach (6-year-olds thru collegiate), and a community advocate.
Fortunately, doctors at The Cleveland Clinic accepted her case and after a week’s long trip, Mallorie was diagnosed with chronic severe migraines and vestibular migraines along with Chiari Malformation with CSF blockage. After an assortment of treatment evaluations and a continuous decrease in Mallorie’s day-to-day capability, surgery was recommended.
On June 22nd, 2022 Mallorie will undergo a 4-hour brain surgery, followed by 5-7 days of ICU and then 6-8 weeks of at home recovery, which - when all goes smoothly - will give Mallorie a pain-free and symptom-free life. We are thankful that Mallorie is surrounded by great family and friends!
Any of the generous donations received will be used to cover the cost of travel, lodging, and medical expenses. Any donations are greatly appreciated!!
