Thank you for taking a moment to read about what has been going on in our life.
The day before Thanksgiving I went into the ER with a horribly painful and persistent cough. They took x-rays and found I had a large blood clot in my right lung. They Doctor said that I had a PVC burden (missed beats) of 45-50%, causing immense burden on my heart and other organs. I was found to also be in cardiogenic shock, liver failure, and renal failure from lack of oxygen to my organs. My care team had me medically transported to UH Cleveland main campus and admitted me into the Cardiac ICU. At that time they were giving me little to no chance of survival. They ran extensive tests on all my major organs and I was on an hourly watch to see if we were going to have to start dialysis. As they were running tests they discovered on top of everything else I had extreme heart failure. I only had 12% heart function on one side of my heart and 15% on the other. At the time my wife was 7 1/2 months pregnant with our daughter and our son had just turned three.
After a month in CICU the doctors agreed to release me a couple of days before Christmas on two conditions; the first was that l had to wear a portable defibrillator and the second was that I came back for heart surgery right after the first of the year. Unfortunately that surgery failed and I'm scheduled for another on the 23rd of this month. I'm scared to death ( too soon?) to go in for another, they make it sound pretty dangerous because of my very low heart function. I've been admitted to the hospital three times since my release in December. I am 37 years old and the only thing the doctors can come up with is that this all came about because the PVC's weakened my heart overtime. On a brighter note our baby girl was born on February 12th and everything went well plus or minus a couple hiccups. We are staying as strong as we can and find solice in soaking up memories with the kids and each other. The reason that I am reaching out is in hopes that you can offer some help. In the midst of all of this our van turned into a paper weight and we have many doctors appointments to get back and forth to. On top of that we only had two weeks to come up with enough to either catch up or move into a new place. I have no doubt we would be homeless if we hadn't put this go fund me together. The thought of being homeless with a one month old and three year old is enough to give someone a heart condition, it certainly wasn't helping mine... We have sold off everything we could and have exhausted all funds to get as far as we have through this. We've applied for all of the assistance programs that our community and state offers to no avail. We've also called upon all of the churches in our area, we thankfully recieved some diapers and blankets. I hope reaching out to you hasn't offended you. We would sincerely appreciate anything you could help with in our time of great need.
Thank you very much
