My name is Rick, and I am a cancer survivor. Last summer, I was diagnosed with stage 3 rectal cancer, and my world changed overnight.
Following my diagnosis, my schizophrenic son Michael was triggered and smoked a blunt that was unknowingly laced with fentanyl. He was unresponsive when he was found in his room. He had blood clots in his arm, had kidney failure and nearly died. After moving him to a hospital closer to me in Westchester, he had multiple surgeries to try to save his arm. Ultimately, he had his right hand amputated. All of this while I was receiving radiation and chemotherapy.
We are finally on the road to recovery, but the journey has been incredibly challenging for both of us. The healing process—physically, emotionally, and financially—has brought its own set of obstacles. Right now, I must focus on regaining my strength and health before my upcoming PET scan at the end of June. The costs of medical care, daily living, and supporting my son have added up quickly. I'm also facing legal challenges involving mental health issues in my family.
I am reaching out for support to help cover my living expenses for the next few months. It can be in the form of a personal loan or a contribution. This support will help me bridge the gap until I receive funds from an upcoming art sale to a museum in July. Your generosity will allow me to focus on healing without the added stress of financial uncertainty.
I am deeply thankful for any help you can offer. Once I am back on my feet and receive the proceeds from the art sale, I am committed to paying it forward by creating a fund to produce concerts, as I did in the past through Tribes Hill. Your kindness will not only help me heal, but will also help me give back to others in the future.
Carry on enthusiastically!
