Hi everyone,
My name is Laura, I am 21 years old. I'm reaching out because my mom and I are facing one of the most difficult times of our lives, and we've reached a point where we need to ask for help.
After the passing of my grandparents, who we had been living with, my mom and I had to move into a trailer a few months ago to try to start over. We hoped it would be a fresh start, but almost everything that could go wrong did.
My mom is very sick. She has end-stage kidney failure and requires regular dialysis treatments. She is on oxygen 24 hours a day because of her health, suffers from congestive heart failure, and can barely walk without assistance. During the past few months, she has been in and out of the hospital after suffering several serious falls.
As soon as we moved into the trailer, we were hit with one problem after another. The plumbing failed and sewage began backing up through the drains. Then our electricity went out and stayed off for an entire month while we struggled to afford the repairs and hire an electrician. When the power was finally restored, it had damaged our refrigerator and several of our belongings, including my PS5. Shortly afterward, a tree fell onto the trailer and caused even more damage.
Because the trailer was unlivable for a time, we had to sleep in our car for weeks and make frequent trips over an hour away to stay with relatives whenever they could take us in.
I had been working, but I ultimately had to leave my job so I could care for my mom while managing the constant emergencies and her medical needs. Right now, I'm her full-time caregiver, and although we've managed to restore the power and make temporary plumbing repairs, we've completely run out of money.
We're now struggling to pay our rent and keep a roof over our heads.
Every donation, no matter the amount, will go toward rent, utilities, essential home repairs, transportation to my mom's medical appointments and dialysis, groceries, and other basic necessities while we work to get back on our feet.
If you're unable to donate, simply sharing our fundraiser would mean the world to us.
Thank you for taking the time to read our story and for any kindness, support, or prayers you can offer. We truly appreciate every bit of help during this incredibly difficult chapter of our lives.
