Unethical Wage Garnishment Fiasco

Donation protected
Thank you for giving! Update: I’m going to be able to settle this for $2700! Today in: Things They Don’t Tell Poor People. Creditors are not required to report your accounts so you can’t rely on your credit report to keep track of your debt. Your account could be sold/transferred many times times and none of those companies would have to report those transactions. In this case it will not be easy to find out who “owns” your debt and it will not show on your credit report. One great way to find out who really owns your debt is to have a wage garnishment filed against you with no prior warning. In my case a law firm sat on a judgement for eight years, letting interest build up for their profit, before they made me aware of their claim to own my debt. If any of these companies had reported to the credit agencies I would have had access to the information I needed to legitimately pay off this debt (less $1400 of interest) along with all the other debts I manage using the information on my credit report and it would have been taken care of years ago I am making the case that they should waive the interest since it is their fault it went so long before I knew this account had ended up with them. If they accept that, maybe they’ll cancel the garnishment and my total owed will go down to $3000to satisfy a $1700 original balance. Keep your fingers crossed for me and thanks for your help!
