Help Peter Fight Aggressive Melanoma Cancer for His Children's Future

Dear all,

My friend, Peter, a devoted father, son, brother, and veteran Army officer, urgently needs our support.

Peter's battle began in July 2019, when what seemed like a routine mole check led to the alarming diagnosis of melanoma. However, hope shone bright when after a surgical removal, he was declared cancer-free. That first victory, however fleeting, showed Peter's resilience.

But, as spring 2020 approached, a swollen lymph node reignited concerns. The heartbreaking revelation was that the cancer had returned, more insidious than before. After undergoing an extensive surgery in June 2020, removing multiple lymph nodes, hope resurfaced with the initiation of immunotherapy. That September, though, a scan crushed that hope, revealing the spread of cancer to his spine, liver, and more lymph nodes. Yet, Peter clung to hope as he started daily BRAF pills, which for two and a half years, appeared to keep the cancer at bay, with scans showing positive signs of reduction and even inactivity.

Life seemed to return to a semblance of normalcy; Peter was even able to return to work in December 2020. He optimized his lifestyle for recovery: dietary changes, exercises, meditations, and more. Over two years, life was kind, and hope blossomed.

Tragically, in April, during a simple run in his neighborhood, Peter suffered a seizure. The culprit: the relentless return of melanoma, this time in his brain, with 12 metastases identified. Another round of immunotherapy followed, but this time, the side effects became unbearable: diarrhea, colitis, immune-related hepatitis, and severe exhaustion. The recent scans have shown that the metastases in his brain continue to grow, forcing Peter to start full brain radiation. The journey has been one of highs and lows, of hope given and then cruelly snatched away.

But while his fight against melanoma is recent, Peter has been fighting for others for most of his life.

A 26-year career officer in the Danish Army, Peter's dedication to his country is unparalleled. He was deployed to some of the world's most challenging conflict zones, including Kosovo and Iraq.

Upon returning home, Peter continued his service, working intensively to better the lives of Danish veterans. He passionately contributed to initiatives that focused on the welfare, retraining, and rehabilitation of his fellow servicemen and women. In addition to his work with Danish veterans, he also commanded volunteer forces in the Danish National Guard often devoting evenings and weekends to this cause. Moreover, in his recent assignments, Peter delved deep into addressing the challenges faced by Denmark's Armed Forces, ensuring they are aptly equipped and staffed for tomorrow’s security challenges.

But Peter's service didn't stop with his country. In his local community, he has been a pillar of support. As an unpaid volunteer, Peter played an instrumental role in securing funds for the municipality school and kindergarten, literally saving the school from closure. He championed for local walk- and bike paths, ensuring safe commute for children. He also took on leadership roles, serving as the president for the school and kindergarten’s executive board for extended periods.

For all his service to country and community, Peter's heart has always been centered on his children. As a father, he has been their steadfast protector, teacher in life, and biggest cheerleader. Vacation camping trips by the sea in Denmark, skiing adventures in Sweden, and countless other memories testify to their close-knit bond. From patiently helping with homework, attending soccer training and driving to countless activities, and being the comforting presence during every fever and cold, Peter's devotion to his children is palpable. They are not just his responsibility as a single parent; they are his world.

Peter's plea is simple and heartfelt:

"I fight every day, primarily for my children. I wish to see them grow, to ensure they are secure and happy. I ask for your support, not just for me, but for them. Your contributions will directly impact my chances of survival. Time is of the essence, and your support means everything."

Every donation, big or small, will make a profound difference. All funds will be channeled towards specialized treatments outside the purview of the Danish health system. If the worst were to happen, any remaining donations will be used to support his children's future.

Your support could be the beacon of hope in Peter's battle. Please donate today, and spread the word. Stand with us, stand with Peter during this critical phase.

Thank you
