Surround Margriet With Loving Hands

Donation protected
Yesterday, Margriet Seinen, beloved SoHum silk artist, displayed her creations at the community's annual Winter Arts Faire and her daughter, Alicia Renata, captured her glowing smile and paintings in the photo above. But, before midnight, the 79-year-old had to leap from the second story of her burning home--fracturing several discs in her back--and leaving behind everything as flames destroyed her delicate art, her priceless collection of lovingly curated clothing and jewelry, her phone, personal journals, even her hard drive with images of everything she had created...nothing was saved.

Margriet has created luminous works of art that not only warm the walls of many homes here in Humboldt County but have been shown in and sold from galleries in the Netherlands, Vancouver, BC., Washington, Oregon, Florida, New York City, and, of course, across the Emerald Triangle. Two of her pieces are published in “The best of Silk Painting ” by Janas and Tuckman 1994.

Now she is being transferred to UC Davis Medical Center for medical evaluation after spending the night in the local hospital, and she is faced with the devastating loss of all material goods.

At this holiday time, please share what you can to help mitigate the loss and ease the pain of this community treasure who only has us to surround her with love and support.
