Our sweet friend, Alix Brost, is facing an unimaginable loss.

After battling stage four pancreatic cancer for several months, Alix’s mother, Carolyn Jo Brost, passed away on Saturday, September 5, 2026. Carolyn was diagnosed in March, and Alix has spent the past several months by her side, caring for her and helping her through her fight.

This loss comes after the unexpected passing of Alix’s father, Lynn Patrick Brost, just one year ago, in February 2025.

In the span of just 19 months, Alix has lost both of her parents.

As an only child, she is now facing the unimaginable reality of navigating life without the two people who brought her into this world.

We want Alix to know that she does not have to walk through this alone.

We’re starting this fundraiser to surround her with the same love and generosity that she gives so freely to everyone around her.

The immediate reality of loss comes with so much more than grief. There are funeral and cremation expenses, unexpected costs, time away from work, and countless practical decisions that have to be made when your heart is still trying to understand what happened.

Alix has been out of work for the past month as her mother’s primary caregiver, putting her own life and responsibilities on hold to be there for Carolyn. Now, she needs time to grieve, breathe, and begin to process the loss of both of her parents.

Carolyn will be cremated, and her funeral will take place within the coming month. We hope this fundraiser can help ease some of the financial pressure surrounding these arrangements and give Alix a little room to focus on herself and her family rather than worrying about how she will manage everything financially.

Our goal is to raise $6,500 to help ease some of that burden and give Alix something incredibly valuable right now:

Time and space to grieve.

Time to say goodbye to her mom.

Time to process the loss of her family.

Time to take care of herself.

Time to simply exist in a season of life that no one is ever prepared for.

If you know Alix, you know exactly why we want to do this for her.

She is the kind of person who brings light with her wherever she goes. She has an enormous heart and an unmistakable joy that makes people feel welcome, cared for, and loved. She shows up for people. She gives freely. She makes people laugh like it’s her job. She nurtures the people around her and somehow manages to make everyone feel like they matter.

Now it’s our turn to show up for her.

Please give Alix some time and space to process.

As much as we want to reach out, send hugs, offer condolences, and remind her that she is loved, let’s first give her the space to grieve without an overwhelming pressure to keep up with messages of condolences.

Give her room to be quiet.

Give her room to fall apart.

Give her room to remember her mom and her dad.

And most of all, give her the space to grieve in whatever way she needs.

No one should have to navigate the loss of both parents alone, especially not in such a short period of time.

Let’s give Alix a little bit of the love, comfort, support, and space she has so generously given to so many others.
