Surrogate. Adopted. Got Cancer. Kept Working. Needs Help.

Hi. I’m Megan.

I’m a therapist, a mom of three, a cancer survivor — and the woman who kept working through it all, even from a hospital bed.

Before cancer, I was a surrogate for three times for two separate gay couples that (obviously) couldn’t carry on their own. After that, I adopted two beautiful children. Just two weeks after the adoption was finalized, I was diagnosed with Stage III Colorectal cancer.

And I never stopped. Not once.

No time off. No paid leave. Just me, showing up — for my clients, my kids, and everyone who needed me.

Why I’m Asking Now

This is a new chapter — and a new campaign to help me rebuild after everything that came next.

When cancer hit, I was the primary breadwinner for our family of five. My partner’s income was spotty at best, and we had three kids to care for. I used every dollar I had to keep us alive — including the money that should’ve gone to taxes.

Now I’m facing tax debt well into the six digits. Only half of it is technically mine, but I may be left to carry most of (if not the full) burden. The IRS doesn’t care whose name is on which half — they just want to get paid. And while annoying, that's fair.

And that’s just one piece of it.
