Surprise Disney World Trip for Mom
If you know my mom, you know what a kind, thoughfulful, gentle woman she is. If you don't know my mom, I hope you are blessed with the opportunity to get to know her at some point during her time on this earth. A few years back, the family was devastated to find out she had been diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis (a disease in which the immune system eats away at the protective covering of nerves, eventually leading to the inability to use ones muscles.) Although my mom is fighting it hard, it has worsened a lot over time. She has trouble walking, remembering things, and sometimes staying awake. Now, my mom has completely and wholeheartedly dedicated her life to caring for others, especially her family. Throughout her adult life she worked with special education children at Hubbell Elementary School and spent her time working with those at Roosevelt High School. She recently got the news that Roosevelt no longer needs a librarian after this year, and that she will be losing her job. I know my mom is very distraught and scared at what this news means. She wants to take care of her family as much as she can, for as long as she possibly can. She goes above and beyond for everyone she meets every day, no matter how she is treated. She literally gives children at Roosevelt the clothes off of her back, or gives them a ride home if it's too cold and she notices they don't have a coat on. This woman would do ANYTHING for ANYONE, without even being asked. She inspires me every day to be the best person I can possibly be. As the saying goes, "be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle." She lives by this every day, and you would never guess she is struggling as much as she is. Now, here's what I want to do for her. I am currently working as a College Program Intern full time at Walt Disney World and am very far away from home, which I know is also taking a toll on my mom even though she has been nothing but supportive. I do get discounts on some things here, but with it being Disney, everything is still ridiculously expensive. I am putting my paychecks towards surprising her with this trip to visit me over spring break, but I can't do it on my own. I'd like for her to have a nice stay in Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, get a massage to ease the struggle with her MS, and do everything such a selfless person deseserves when taking a vacation. I am desperately pleading for any help at all, even the smallest donation makes a HUGE impact on this surprise for her. I am doing as much as I can but it is the kindness of others that will really make this dream a reality. For my mom, Kathy Stackhouse, who has touched the lives of so many. She is so deserving of a nice vacation after the hardships she has faced. I would also like to compile a list of those who donated and some kind words that were said in support. I don't think she realizes just how special she is, so let's show her.
Much love from her daughter Zoey
(this is a SURPRISE, PLEASE don't say anything)
