I was in a collision in November 2024 when someone turned left in front of me when I was about 30 feet away. I was unable to stop and smashed into him. That left me with multiple injuries, some of which are still affecting me to this day. I can't return to being a mechanic because of these injuries, and even if I could, my tools still haven't been paid for from when I lost them in a workplace explosion a few months after the collision.

I was recently sent for an "independent" medical exam, performed by someone who is very clearly not working in the best interests of the patient. This IME concluded that, despite having none of my physio records, my remaining functional deficits are a result of depression. As such, my insurance adjuster has discontinued any further stipends for living while my body tries to heal. This left me with 72 hours to find the first $600 I need for insurance payments (hah!) which need to remain paid in order for me to have a vehicle, and another 48 after that to try to find the remaining $1000 to make sure my mortgage and car payment are covered.

I know it's an awful time of year in an awful economy, but losing my home or vehicle wouldn't just leave me out in the cold, it would also leave all of the critters in the sanctuary and adoption areas without a home as well.

I had planned to be on my feet and contributing to helping other people in this kind of situation by now, but it seems the universe or God or whatever you call it has other ideas. Maybe this lesson is humility? IDK. But it sucks.
