SURPRISE I HAVE A BRAIN TUMOR

Hello everyone,

Dan The Man as most call me, normally in good health and spirit and with rare visits to the Doc I received

the news from an MRI of a growing Tumour in the brain. Enlightening news at this stage of life for myself, Kara and our young family.

I have chosen to hand the steering wheel over to Professor Charlie Teo as most know he is one of a kind and the best in the business for Nero surgery. Challenges I face will be percentage removed, surgery result and tumour type for ongoing treatment.

It is a huge hit to my pride to be on here asking for help , As I have never been that way inclined

I am extremely humbled by the help that has been offered and given already by those closest to me. The self-funded costs however just keep going up for my surgery and hospital fees at the Prince of Wales private hospital, as you can imagine these are enormous as I have no private health cover. As a healthy man it never seemed worth the cost . I have paid most of the big costs up front at this point in time.

My wife and I will to fly to Sydney for the operation on Wed the 11th August, and I will be required to stay for biopsy results (10 days normally) and maybe further treatment. This could mean a stay of up to a month. Of course at the moment on returning home we will be required to quarantine at our expense in the Government facility in Cairns for a further14 days.

My wife Kara will travel with me as my carer and organiser but at this time she will be unable to enter the hospital due to covid, so in addition to leaving my 3 kids at home plus the financial impost I dont feel too good about the situation. I just want to tell my family I love them, wake up after the operation to my wife telling me everything is fine and then kick the next goal to full recovery without any stress. To help achieve this I have great family support but do need some financial help.
