My name is Rebekah and I'm from a small town in Louisiana.  For as long as I can remember, I have dreamed of traveling abroad to participate in a medical missions trip.  I have finally been given the opportunity of a lifetime and with your help, my dream will soon become my reality.  


I have been given the opportunity to travel to Haiti, this summer, June 22 through July 2, in order to provide surgical care to the small urban community of Ridoré,  La Vallée-de-Jacmel, at St. Joseph Hospital.  


We will leave on Thursday, July 22, from New Orleans and travel to Miami, where we will stay the night in order to catch the early bird flight the next day.  On Friday, July 23, we will leave Miami and travel to Port-au-Prince.  From there we will hop on a tiny charter plane and fly to a smaller community, called Jacmel, then take an hour long bus ride to St. Joseph Hospital, at about 2,400 ft elevation, in Ridoré, La Vallée-de-Jacmel.

I will be working with a group of 20-30 volunteers from the United States, along with 6-10 Haitian physicians and nurses, for an entire week (June 24 -July 1), up to 12 hours a day.  We will be performing a variety of surgeries, from hernia repairs, eye and dental surgeries, to c-sections, among other necessary surgeries. 

The following Sunday, July 2, we will travel back to the United States.


All funding for this missions trip, goes directly to the mission.  It is strictly volunteer only.  We all pay our own way.  No one gets paid for their time and work.  The funds will be used for the transportation, housing, equipment, instruments, and necessary needs to perform the surgeries, while providing the best medical care possible in such limited conditions.
