Hi,
My name is Laura and I never thought I would be in a position to have a go-fund-me. However, the last few months have been a complete medical roller coaster.
On June 1, 2022 I fell down some stairs on my way to work. I injured both ankles, and my right ankle took the brunt of things. This led to a summer and fall of PT and ultimately surgery on my ankle.
What we hadn’t realized at that time was that when I landed, the L4/L5 disc in my back re-herniated. When I was favoring one leg over the other to compensate for the bad sprain, it was okay. Shortly after my ankle surgery, I began to try and walk more “normal” again. This triggered significant pain in my back and then down my right leg as well.
We tried PT, tried heat, and ice, and rest. Ultimately surgery was the answer. However, that would not be the end. The day after surgery I was repositioning and the disc re-herniated, again. A few days later I was brought back in for a second surgery on the same disc and for a dural tear with a spinal fluid leak.
Three surgeries in 90 days has taken a significant toll, and the bills are starting to roll in. Due to these surgeries, I’ve been unable to work my second job and we have also incurred additional expenses in Mike driving between the seacoast and Manchester to make sure that I’m taken care of and not alone.
We hope that this will be the last of surgeries for a while, but know that this will be a long journey back to any sort of normalcy. This has been a long process, and the thought of the medical bills coming in is quite anxiety inducing. Even with insurance, these procedures are not inexpensive. Any help to reduce that burden would be greatly appreciated.
with love,
Laura
