Surgical and vet care for Koda and Rocky

*** POST VETERINARY UPDATE***

It was a marathon at Sackville Animal Hospital today. Two pups had the staff busy with exams, surgery, treatment and documentation. THANK YOU!!!

Koda's surgery went longer than anticipated. She needed to be intubated due to the heavy sedation and length of time. The findings are attached. This little girl is going to have to return to the clinic every week to be sedated to remove more quills. We will also be removing "tips" with at hone with a tool and direction provided by the vets. The entire team was wonderful and very compassionate toward exhausted people and pups. Naturally 3 of 4 of her search team was in the room with them. They have extended family now, The following is the tally so far. Invoices and receipts will be posted on the Facebook page as well as here on the fundraiser.

ROCKY HAS A CONDITION CALLED ENTROPION EYELIDS. HE WAS EXAMINED WITH EYE STAIN TODAY AND WE WERE GIVEN EYE DROPS AND GEL TO SLOW/PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE CORNEA UNTIL WE CAN RAISE THE FUNDS FOR HIS SURGERY.

IT'S DIFFICULT TO FIND THE RIGHT WORDS TO EXPRESS THE RELIEF AND OUR GRATITUDE. THANK YOU FOR HELPING US TO GIVE THESE PUPS A STRONG START.

Koda and Rocky are an 8 month old sibling pair of great dane x great pyrenees pups who were surrendered to Serenity Acres Family Ranch due to severe medical needs. Koda has a face full of porcupine quills and a urinary tract infection. Rocky has entropion eye lids. Unfortunately the rescues we normally foster for are only able to accept pure bred dogs. Although they are cheering us on. They are not able to provide vet care for the pair so we are going to take up the challenge through the ranch. We have incredible volunteers to assist with care but it's going to be expensive. The sibling pair have a vet appointment tomorrow morning for Kodas surgery and Rocky's eye assessment. Although we know all care will be in the thousands. We are currently asking for help with the vet deposit which is $500 per pup. We are asking because we are crunched for time to get them in on short notice. The vet clinic is allowing us to make a deposit for each and then continue to make payments. We can increase the amount to full care once we find out what that involves in case folks would like to assist further. Vet receipts will be posted online following each appointment to show the care that has been provided and the full cost. Once each pup has been given a clean bill of health. They will be placed up for adoption. Donations will help offset adoption fees so fees will not be so high that they can not be adopted.

Our ranch would normally not ask for help with such a case but has sustained some very hard hits this year. Our home, barn and driveway were damaged with heavy flooding July 22 & 23rd. After paying over $8000 per year for insurance, our claims were denied after months of trying to keep mould from spreading throughout our home. Our insurance does not cover ground water so after many months of lost business and having to pay out of pocket for substantial damages. We need to ask for your help.
