Pip’s PRAA surgery
Donation protected
Hey friends.
In April, this cute little trainwreck Frenchie came home with me.
Meet Pip, my special needs puppy.
She has Persistent Right Aortic Arch (PRAA), which means there are both stretched-out and constricted areas of her esophagus that make it almost impossible for her to eat normally and cause her to regurgitate (vomit with no effort) often.
She is *always* at risk of regurging and aspirating it.
We have managed to get her to a good weight (2.25lbs at 2months -> 9.3lbs at 4.5months!) by feeding her frequently, blending her food, and burping/holding her vertically after eating so that her food reaches her tummy by gravity, and there is less for her to regurgitate. Unfortunately as she gets older, it’s not going to get any easier for my little pup.
She is trying so so hard to be a real dog. She is a freaking fighter.
I’m posting about her now, because she’s come a longgg way, and still has a little ways to go.
We want to pursue corrective surgery for her. We want to give her the best life we can.
But we need help. Surgery is going to be very expensive: $3500 is the least expensive I have found so far, and that is several states away.
She kinda fell into my life, and this surgery wasn’t an expense that we had been expecting to come up. But now that she is here, and doing good, and in the prime time for the surgery, I really have to try.
I am really not one to ask for help, and this all feels super uncomfortable for me. But, we could really use all the help we can get.
Please help us out, for Pippy ❤️
