Surgery for Buddy
Donation protected
On February 13, 2020, on an extremely cold morning, I was leaving an appointment in Plano, TX, when I saw a limping dog crossing 4 lanes of traffic, dodging cars and getting ready to cross 4 more at a very busy intersection. I pulled into the parking lot nearby and he came right up to me, which wasn't too difficult since he was extremely friendly and very hungry. That night was supposed to get very cold and I just couldn't bare to watch him struggle anymore. With a little food and lots of love and pets, I was finally able to get him into my warm car and out of traffic.
I took him straight to a veterinary clinic to check for a microchip, unfortunately with no luck. He had no tag on him and a chain around his neck that eventually had to be sawed off. The vet gave him a checkup and some vaccinations, along with x-rays that would show an unfortunate injury to his back leg. The vet seems to think that this sweet boy was hit by a car, roughly 10 days prior, and fractured his back right leg. At just one year old, we gave him the name Buddy and couldn't believe his resilience and his cheerful and hopeful personality after what he had been through. He is a "pocket pitty", which is a cross between a Pitbull and Patterdale Terrier. Based on some ribs showing, we suspect he hasn't had a good meal in a few weeks.
The veterinarian, Dr. Tubby, and his staff at City Vet have been so remarkable in helping to take care of Buddy, feeding and caring for him. He has the sweetest personality and has become loved by all 20 employees there. However, he needs surgery for his leg, as he is in a great deal of pain. He needs a FHO, Femerol Head Ostectomy. We have been giving him pain and anti-inflammatory medicine, but this is only a temporary fix as he cannot take these medications for an extended period of time.
The cost for surgery is $2500 and they would also like to neuter him while he's under anesthesia. There will also be some additional costs for rehabilitation after the surgery.
The vet would like to do the surgery in the next 2 weeks, so he is not on medications too long. If you could please find it in your heart to help Buddy and donate, even if it's just $10, it would help so much. As a pet owner, I can't imagine my baby out there hurt and hungry, and not having a way to get out of pain. Once he has the surgery, we would like to find his foster, or furever home.
For those that cannot donate, please please please share this to your social media and friends! Thank you and God Bless!
