Surgery to Relieve Miss Jellybean's Pain
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Aisha Chapin. I took in Miss Jellybean, a sweet, loving cat, in December 2022 to protect her from a snowstorm, intending to find her owner. After months of unsuccessful attempts, I decided to keep her. Miss Jellybean is a young cat, around 3-5 years old. She has been diagnosed with bilateral glaucoma, caused by an infection from toxoplasmosis. Despite ongoing treatment, she requires an expensive surgery to remove both eyes due to fluid buildup and pain. Before the surgery, further tests and X-rays are needed. The total cost, including the surgery and aftercare, is estimated at $2,000, and I'm seeking help to cover these expenses.
I did seek a second vet opinion who confirmed that her eyesight is causing more pain than benefit, and suggested removing both eyes to prevent future reinfection, as the condition cannot be fully treated. Before proceeding, chest X-rays are recommended to ensure the toxoplasmosis is not still active. The vet who initially recommended removing only one eye now agrees to schedule the X-ray and surgery in about three weeks. Donations are being sought to help with the costs of Miss Jellybean's surgery and care.
