Help Little Suki See the World

Suki is a tiny dapple (merle) dachshund with a heart far bigger than her little legs. She first came into my life as a foster — but it didn’t take long for her to completely steal my heart. I quickly realized she wasn’t just another foster… she was home.

When Suki arrived, we already knew she was blind. But after a few days together, we discovered she’s also deaf. Despite this, she radiates joy and confidence — exploring the house and yard with an incredible sense of smell and boundless curiosity. She’s truly a beautiful little soul who doesn’t let anything hold her back.

Suki has a condition called Merle Ocular Dysgenesis (MOD) — a congenital eye disorder seen in merle-colored dogs. It occurs when the eye tissues don’t form properly, often due to unethical breeding practices by backyard breeders who value profit over animal welfare. Her mum was also blind, and sadly, her puppies inherited the same condition.

After being examined by a veterinary ophthalmologist, we received the heartbreaking news: Suki has no eye tissue in one eye, and a very small, underdeveloped eye on the other side. But there’s hope — with surgery, there’s a chance we can give her some sight.

Unfortunately, pet insurance is unlikely to cover this procedure (we’re trying every avenue), so we’re reaching out for help. Your donation — big or small — could help give Suki the precious gift of sight.

Every dollar will go directly toward her surgery and post-operative care. Anything raised beyond her medical needs will be donated to Hear No Evil Rescue Group, who tirelessly support deaf and special needs dogs just like Suki.

Suki may not see the world right now, but she feels it — through every cuddle, every wag, every gentle touch. With your help, we can show her just how beautiful the world really is.

Please donate or share Suki’s story — every bit helps. Thank you for helping us give this brave little girl a brighter future.
