Surgery scheduled to save this sweet dog's life.

UPDATE: He had his surgery yesterday and the surgeon thinks he should be okay. He needs to be kept crated for 8 weeks while he heals and then may need rehab. He'll likely develop arthritis in the joint and may have pain, but he'll be well cared for. As mentioned, we are still short of our goal and so far we are in the hole for nearly $5000. Please share this with like-minded folks.
Hi - This handsome boy has been hanging around our street for about a month. Neighbors have been putting out food and water, but no one has taken him in because he was skittish and unable to be caught. He was either in a fight or was hit by a car and his right front leg has been dislocated and the ligaments are torn. A couple of us took him to a vet who x-rayed him and tried to put the leg back in place with a splint to hold it, but because the ligaments are torn, it keeps popping back out. The vet said surgery, with pins to hold the leg in position, would be the only answer other than amputation. If you can help us to save this boy, we would be grateful. He is at St. Francis Animal Hospital in Hollywood, FL and the cost of surgery there is much less than it would be elsewhere. Please help. One of the neighbors has agreed to give him a loving and secure home. Thanks in advance.
