I am writing to formally request medical and financial assistance for the treatment of a rare genetic bone disorder. I have been diagnosed with Progressive Pseudorheumatoid Arthropathy (PPRA), also categorized under Spondyloepiphyseal Dysplasia (SED).
Medical Context & Severity:
It is critical to understand that PPRA is often misdiagnosed as Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis (JRA) due to similar joint deformities. However, PPRA is a non-inflammatory skeletal dysplasia caused by genetic mutations affecting articular cartilage. Therefore, standard anti-rheumatic drugs and immunosuppressants are entirely ineffective, and the disease leads to progressive, irreversible joint destruction.
Current Clinical Status:
My condition has reached a stage of severe physical impairment and neurological risk:
Neurological Crisis: My cervical MRI shows spinal canal stenosis and multilevel disc bulging. This has led to sensory loss (numbness) affecting the entire left side of my body, indicating dangerous pressure on the spinal cord that requires neurosurgical evaluation.
Knee Degeneration: MRI of my left knee confirms 7mm of chondral loss (severe cartilage erosion) and a meniscal tear, making weight-bearing and walking extremely painful.
Skeletal Deformities: I have significant physical deformities in my hand joints and vertebral wedging in my spine, which are progressive symptoms of the PPRA/SED spectrum.
Request for Intervention:
I am seeking support for specialized surgeries, including spinal decompression to prevent paralysis and orthopedic joint stabilization. Given the rarity of PPRA, the required multidisciplinary care and surgical interventions present substantial financial challenges.
I appeal to your humanitarian mission to help me access the necessary surgical care to stop the progression of this disability and regain my ability to live without constant pain and the threat of paralysis.
