Surgery Needed: George's Diabetes Complications
Donation protected
4/30 UPDATE:
George is out of surgery!
It's still going to be a wait-and-see outlook. One of the risks is that he might develop pancreatitis just from having the surgery. It's unknown what his blood glucose levels will look like in the future, just something we'll have to wait and find out.
The cyst had pretty much doubled in size since his last ultrasound a week ago, so he felt all the more confident that surgery was a good call given the rate of growth.
Thank you all for the thoughts/prayers/donations ❣️
Hi everyone,
A little over a year ago, we began what has been a long journey trying to get George's diabetes under control. There have been several uphill battles...
He has now developed a pancreatic pseudocyst, which is making it even harder to manage his diabetes. After several vet visits and consultations with an internal medicine specialist and surgeon, we’ve been told that surgery is the best option, since a recent procedure to drain the cyst was unsuccessful.
The costs of the first procedure, this surgery, recovery, meds, and ongoing care is more than we can manage by ourselves right now, as hard as it is to admit. But this is his best chance at a better quality of life as his diabetes is wildly unregulated even on insulin.
If you’re in a position to help with a donation or just by sharing this post, we would be incredibly grateful. Every little bit truly helps.
Thank you for reading and for supporting George.
With gratitude,
George & Summer
