Surgery Hope for Hobie❤️‍

Hi there, I’m Keaghan and my cat, Hobie, is spending his 2nd birthday in the hospital due to urinary obstructions, which aren’t uncommon for male cats, but can prove fatal if untreated. He’s been on a catheter, fluids, and new diet, but the x-rays show he has two stones in his bladder that he can’t pass. The doctors put the likelihood of continued re-obstruction at 30-50%, with the treatment plan being a diet that has about an 80% success rate over 3-5 months. So far all of this has been quoted a little over $5,000, and unfortunately there’s only been more complications.

After 24 hours, they removed the catheter and he was quickly re-obstructed, so they had to put it back in. Now they’re also concerned about a possible stricture forming in his urethra that may cause further complications. After 36 hours of this, the best option is getting him transferred and into surgery to remove the stones as soon as possible. That’s priority #1 as, without the surgery, every day carries a high risk of having to repeat all of this again. The next step after that would be doing a scan for strictures and addressing those if they appear. This has all been quotes at an additional $6,500-$8,000.

Hobie has been so brave for his first hospital stay and brightened up as soon as I visited. Anybody who knows me knows I have a hard time asking for help, but I’ll do anything to help Hobie. It’s just him and I at home and he’s gotten me through a lot in the 2 years that he’s been around and I’ll do whatever I can to help him.

Thank you for all your consideration and any support is immensely appreciated.❤️‍
