Hello, my name is Rafi Rondon and I am fundraising for medical bills.
My wife Marilyn had spine surgery on 09/2022 for a herniated disk. She was supposed to have a fast recovery and go back to normal but there was nerve damage and 16 months after the surgery she is worse than before the surgery.
Most people with herniated disk or nerve damage suffer from severe pain. That is not her case. Although she has some pain, Marilyn suffers from loss of function. Many parts of her right leg are numb and without strength. Pain is tolerable but there are moments of a sharp jolt of pain that feels like an electric shock. The loss of function is the most frustrating because she is not able to walk normally, and her mobility is very limited.
After consulting with two surgeons, the recommendation was to try a nerve stimulator. This has been a process of tests and trial for an implant of a Dorsal Root Ganglion (DRG) Stimulator. In January she had a trial run, and the results were amazing. In just a few days she had significant improvement in stability, pain relief, and walking. But as soon as the trial was over the symptoms came back.
Marilyn is scheduled to have the DRG implant surgery on February 21, 2024. We are so blessed to have insurance provided by the church where I work as a pastor. Our insurance will pay for 80%. We are only raising funds to cover our 20% because we just don't have it. $6,500 is only the total what we know we have to pay for the trial copay and the upcoming surgery hospital bill. We still don't know what the doctor bill will be but we are hoping that after all of this our deductible will be met and that will take care of the doctor bill.
Thank you for reading this far and considering a gift towards this surgery. We trust that God will provide for our need through the generosity of friends and family. Any size gift is a blessing and greatly appreciated. Thank you!
