Meet Thunder. We adopted this sweet boy on November 1st, dreaming of puppy zoomies and long walks. Instead, we found a puppy in constant, silent pain.

The Diagnosis: After immediate vet visits and X-rays at All Pets Animal Hospital and BluePearl Pet Hospital, Thunder was diagnosed with moderate to severe hip dysplasia that went undetected and undiagnosed in the adoption agency’s care before placement with us. Thunder needs a total hip replacement in order to live a normal, pain free life.

The Insurance Blow: Though we have pet insurance, they have labeled this a pre-existing condition and are refusing to cover any of his care. As a result, we are facing a significant out-of-pocket cost for his surgery and recovery.

Where We Stand: The adoption agency has acknowledged the gaps in his early care and has committed to start his surgical fund. It is a generous start, but we still have a long way to go to reach what’s needed for his care.
