Just over one month ago we fell in love with Rosa and became her fur-ever home! Despite being almost 18 months old, she had never had a home to call her own. The family that originally purchased her quickly became unable to care for her and her future was looking very uncertain but from the moment we met her, we knew she was destined to be ours <3

Sadly, Rosa was badly injured when she was shot by a neighbour for unknowingly crossing our property line. While out for our evening walk, she got free and took off on me. Before we were able to get her safely home, she was struck by a bullet from a neighbour who claimed to have hit her accidentally while shooting “warning shots.”

Unfortunately for us, we are still working with Rosa’s previous owners to get some proof of ownership which we still do not have. This means that was have not yet been able to secure pet insurance for her.

Rosa requires surgery on her leg to remove the bullet and a bullet fragment which is lodged in her bone. She also has a green stick fracture where the bullet fragment struck her leg bone that will need repairs. Rosa is currently at a local emergency animal hospital awaiting an orthopaedic surgeon to perform the necessary procedure.

Although Rosa has only been ours for a short time, we adore her more than we ever thought possible and will be going ahead with the surgery despite the financial challenges it will create. Any help at all, no matter how small, will go directly towards Rosa’s medical costs and will be so incredibly appreciated! Rosa loves love! She loves to be loved and she loves to spread love! Even the vets and vet techs who have been working with her couldn’t believe how sweet she was and that she was still trying to give kisses and love with a literal bullet in her leg!
