Monday morning Sabby wasn’t acting like her usual self, and had been sick in the middle of the night, so I figured she had an upset stomach.

When I came home on my lunch break to check on her, she was laying down, visibly in pain, and shaking profusely. I immediately brought her to the vet to get checked out. After 4 hours and hefty vet bills later, I was told that there was a blockage in her stomach and that she might need surgery.

The vetinarian advised me that there shouldn’t be anything in her stomach since she had only eaten food the previous day. The plan was to give her medication for pain so that she was comfortable, get her to eat small amounts of food, and hope that she was able to digest anything remaining in her stomach over night / reassess tomorrow.

Early this morning it was confirmed that Sabby wasn’t able keep the food down that she had eaten yesterday night and neither the oral pain medication I gave her today at 6am.

Were heading to the vet for 8am to do a barium swallow test and another X-ray, and from there she will need surgery to remove the blockage and get her back to herself.

Sabby is 12 and has been with me since she was a baby. She still has lots of love to give and life to live.

She is my sidekick, my best friend & the best big sister to Ladybird.
