Surgery for Ryo

Hi! Thanks for visiting my "go fund me."

What Happened to Me

As some of you know, I am an avid CrossFitter.  I lost over 100 pounds a few years ago, and the reason I have been able to keep the weight off is purely because of CrossFit. I do CrossFit 6 days a week, which is keeping me healthy, energized, confident and humble.

However, an injury happened on February 2, 2020. I was practicing Olympic Weightlifting (snatch to be exact,) and my right shoulder popped out. I heard the tearing sounds when it popped, so I instantly learned that it was bad. I endured a severe pain for about a minute or so, and the shoulder naturally got back in place.

I immediately went to see my doctor, took an MRI test and a CT scan. I was told that I sustained a bankart lesion which is an injury to glenoid labrum. What's basically happening is that the part that stabilizes the joint is torn so it needs to be surgically sewn up together so the arm will not fall off again.

Why I Need Your Help?

Because I believe I deserve help and support. This is an unfortunate event that can happen to anyone. Through this process, I want to show to my family and friends that sometimes troubles happen, but if you stay composed and positive, you can make these hard times rewarding and educational experiences.

Through this journey, I'm hoping to be transparent about the upcoming surgery, how the recovery goes and my physical/mental ups and downs.

As I previously had a similar surgery 2 years ago, I am prepared for this, and this time, I am willing to share more information with you all, so whoever is in the similar situations can use the info.

At the end of this journey, I hope to be able to come back stronger, and keep inspiring myself as well as people around me. To achieve this, I need your help.

Thank you for taking time and reading all this!

Very truly yours,
Ryo Shiba
