Surgery for rescued horse-"Ohio"

We need your help to save the rescue horse, "Ohio".   "Ohio", needs immediate medical attention and surgery on several advanced Fly Sores on his legs. (Warning - graphic photos.) In addition to the surgery, he also needs medical attention for an eye infection, sheath infection, vaccinations, de-worming, a dental and hoof trimming.

Fly Sores or Summer Sores (Cutaneous Habronemiasis) are skin infections that come from a fly depositing worm larvae in injured skin tissue and when untreated, creates infected and inflamed exposed lesions. "Ohio" needs to have these advanced stage sores surgically removed which will require sedation, local nerve blocks, surgical debridement, possible sutures, and follow-up care with antibiotics, corticosteroids, and daily wound ointments and re-wrapping.  However, before the surgery can be performed, we need to start him on medication and steroids to try to shrink the sores before removing them. Depending on how much of the infected tissue can be removed, he might need to have this procedure more than once.

"Ohio" is a 15 year old Quarter Horse as sweet as can be with great trail riding and Gymkhana experience.  Several months, after his surgery, when he is healed, we will find a loving forever home where there will be constant fly control and care for him for the rest of his life.
He deserves our help to get him healthy again so he can romp and run like a horse should.
Please help "Ohio".
