Surgery for Pippin Collins
Donation protected
Sam Collins' dog-son Pippin needs to have surgery to remove a mass on his head. Initially, Pippin's veterinarian advised Sam to leave the growth on Pippin's head, because it was so small. However, the growth has dramatically increased in size and will continue to do so. Sam took Pippin back to the vet, because the growth was getting so large and because Pippin kept busting it open and bleeding copiously. The vet recommended surgery to remove the growth, but because of Covid, the wait for surgery was longer than it should have been. Because of this, the growth got even bigger, and on the day of surgery, Sam got a call from her vet that they couldn't remove the growth because it was too large and there wasn't enough skin to close the wound.
Since this time, the growth has gotten even larger and Pippin busts it open 4-5 times a day and bleeds so much that he soaks through towels. The growth causes him a good deal of pain, and he can't go on suffering like this. He can't go to the park; he can't play with his friends; he can't even go through the dog door anymore. He doesn't understand what's happening, and he thinks he's been bad when he gets blood all over the floor, and it's absolutely heartbreaking to see him like this. He is the sweetest soul and everyone who knows him loves him and loves his mom, Sam.
Today, Pippin's growth wouldn't stop bleeding. He is currently at the emergency vet and will have to get surgery -- most likely performed by a specialist -- and this will be very expensive. It's unclear just how expensive it will be yet, but at the very least, the vet expects it to cost $3500. This is obviously a huge financial burden, but we cannot let Pippin suffer from this anymore. He deserves medical treatment and Sam deserves our help. If you know Sam, you know that she is very independent and doesn't like to ask for help. She would sooner starve than ask people to help her save her dog. But we also know that Sam is, frankly, fabulous and wonderful and loves Pippin desperately, and we won't let her suffer through this without help. It takes a village. Please contribute what you can. Pippin is a very good boy.
