Surgery for Penny Prisco

Please help their fur baby! I have made a GoFundMe for my best friend Donna Prisco and family. Their poor Penny is very sick and needs surgery. Penny is a huge party of their family and veterinary expenses are adding up. I know Donna, Steve, Matthew, and Stephen do so much for everyone and anyone. My hope is that as friends and family we can give back and do the same for them.

Here is a little about Penny.

Penny was adopted almost 12 years ago.
She is from Arkansas. She was suppose to be a German Shepard but..
She has been a very big part of their family. She has helped them to grow and get through some very emotional times. She is a very gentle, sweet and loving pup. She never really has gone to anyone outside of family and neighbors. It's just the way she has always been. She has been sick for almost 2 months. She had blood in her stool and seemed a little off. Steven made an appointment and had to wait a few weeks. They did a stool sample, different blood tests, and sent her home with medicine. She was back at the doctors not even a week later. She was having a hard time getting up and was not herself. They did more blood work and sent her home again. When they got the results they said they were going to book an ultrasound.
They couldn't get her in for a couple more weeks, so they asked for advice and prayers. Friends had told them to bring her to Tufts and they did. They came out to get her due to Covid.
They immediately admitted her. Penny has never been without one of them with her and she had never been in a crate or kennel, except when they got her 12 yrs ago. They gave her IV fluids and medicine.
She had a fever. They did blood work, and different tests, then an ultrasound and then X-rays.
The ultrasound showed nodulars on her spleen. There was a 50 % chance it was cancer and they did chest X-rays. Thankfully her lungs were cancer free.
They said she should have her spleen removed, you really don't need it. They kept her 2 days, got her fever down and told them to either bring her in as emergency or set up consultation but it would be quicker if we went in as an emergency.
Penny seemed to be getting better but then, not so much. She would only eat chicken and rice. She wouldn't go on her walks everyday. She seemed really sad and thankfully the consultation was coming up.
They went to the surgery consultation and they evaluated her. She had 104 temp and the doctor said they had to keep her for more testing. They wanted to probe her spleen because there is a type of cancer that didn't show up on certain tests, and do more extensive blood work and some full blown tick test that takes a week for results. Her symptoms could mean different things and the doctor postponed the surgery until they can find out what is going on.
Poor Penny has no idea what was going on and they can't even be with her.
They call to check on her often and they are giving her more IV fluids, medicine, blood work, tests, and X-rays.
Now, they are waiting for results yet again.
They were going to remove her spleen this week but she is not strong enough yet.
When they get the tick and other results they will take her spleen out. She is currently still there getting medicine now.
Her fever is down. She is eating, urinating, having bowel movements and overall looking better.
Hopefully they can take her home soon before they have to bring her back again to be reevaluated and prepped for surgery.
