Surgery for Peabody (Service Dog)

Peabody is a service dog in training. This week we found out she requires surgery to repair a congenital issue, an ectopic ureter. We've spent the last several weeks fighting infections. After a veriety of testing, this is the diagnosis. She needs the surgery as soon as possible to repair the issue before it leads to other problems. 


I lost my last service dog over a year ago. Peabody is being trained to help me with symptoms related to my Multiple Sclerosis (MS). Even at such a young age (13 weeks), she has already begun alerting me to medical issues. The bond between us is very strong, and Peabody is highly suited to this type of work. 


I am training Peabody myself with the help of a local specialist. I've moved to the area specifically for this purpose, separating my family for the next 6 months for the initial training (my husband is currently serving in the Armed Forces overseas). With all of these expenses, we find ourselves in a difficult position with this much-needed surgery. 



We would be grateful for any donations we receive to help Peabody get well so she can return to her training and purpose. She is a lively puppy with a huge affinity for this work. All donations will go toward the surgery and recovery fees. If we surpass those fees in donations for any reason, then we have decided to donate those extra funds to K9s For Warriors . This is a fabulous charity that provides service canines for soldiers suffering from  Post-traumatic Stress Disability, traumatic brain injury, and/or military sexual trauma as a result of military service post-9/11.
