Hello, my name is Sarah Johnson and I'm a friend of Ozzie's humans Jill and Jeff. Ozzie is a rescued Red Bone Hound dog, ca. 8 years old. If you live in Newburgh, NY, you have likely seen him romping around the dog park. On a recent visit to the Town of Newburgh dog park, Ozzie was roaring around with his friends and tore his lateral patela luxation--or the dog equivalent of the acl in his right back knee. Ozzie has been to two Vets and has had an X-ray but will need a CT scan to properly diagnose his condition and will likely need surgery to get him back up and running in the coming week.
We have known Ozzie for seven years and he came to visit today. It was so hard to watch his love of life (and chasing squirrels) slowed down by this knee injury. As dog people, we all dread the day when our pet is the one who needs extensive care. Jill Varricchio has given so much to the Hudson Valley and the town of Newburgh, and I have known her since we both worked for Putnam County. I'm hoping you can join me in helping her and her husband get Ozzie the specialized care he so desperately needs as soon as possible. A donation of any size will help SO much and will ease the burden of these veterinary expenses. Thanks again for thinking of donating to Ozzie's knee surgery fund. He says "Ruff" and sends a tail wag to everyone!
