Help My Sweet Doodle Go for Walks Again!
Hi, I’m Emily. Anyone who’s known me over the past eight years knows all about my baby — my doodle, Ruger.
Rugee is the sweetest pup, and he loves me more than anything in the world. If you’ve met him, you know I’m not exaggerating when I say he’s a very good boy — gentle, goofy, and truly one of a kind.
In March, Rugee completely ruptured his cruciate ligament (the dog equivalent of a torn ACL), and he’s been in so much pain. He can barely put weight on his right back leg, and when he tries to move quickly — because he’s still a happy, loving, playful guy — I can hear his bones sliding. Then he’s back to limping on three legs.
And while I know some dogs manage on three legs, that’s not a safe option for Rugee. The extra pressure makes it highly likely he’ll rupture the other knee too.
The vets highly recommend surgery because otherwise-healthy dogs like Rugee — who still has another 3–5 good years ahead of him — tend to recover really well and go on to live pain-free lives.
So I’m asking for help. The total cost for his TPLO surgery and medications is $5,500. I’ll be covering his physical therapy and recovery care myself — I just want to stave off as much of the surgical cost as I can so I can give him the full aftercare he deserves.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read this. I never imagined creating a fundraiser like this, but if the roles were reversed, I know I’d want the chance to help someone I love.
If you’re able to donate, share, or just send love our way — I’m deeply grateful. Every little bit helps greatly!
