Hello, my name is Ivan Ayon. My family and friends are raising money for my aunt Rosario.
She has 2 sons and 1 daughter. Juan Ramon Davis, Rafael Davis, and Guadalupe Davis. She has 8 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. They all live in Mexico. They have all been doing everything within their means to help my aunt Rosario. My extended family has also been chipping in to help cover medical costs incurred. It is this next step that we are worried about because the surgery she needs is a substantial amount. She will need $6,000 just for the procedure but this does not include her hospital stay, medicine, and other post-op procedures or visits.
A couple weeks ago on March 14, 2019 to be exact, she was told that she had cancer in her stomach and that it seemed to be growing at a rapid pace. She first went to see a doctor because of a sharp pain she was feeling in her stomach. She could no longer hold food down because it seemed that anything she ate would provoke sickness and pain. So she stopped eating all together and would only eat when she was completely starving.
Only after months of being in immense pain my aunt Rosario decided to see a doctor. It wasn’t a matter of pride but more so a lack of insurance and monetary funds. She lives in Tijuana, Mexico so the only way to see a doctor is through government insurance or going through a private doctor which can be expensive after several visits. Because applying for government insurance can take a relatively long time, my cousins and extended family have been helping pay for her consultations and studies that have been done. On March 14 we received the news that we had been dreading, Cancer.
Since then until now March 30, 2019, it has been non-stop doctor visits and second opinions. We have been left with 2 options. One is to get rid of the cancer through a non-invasive procedure, chemotherapy, until it the cancer is all gone. The other option which is more aggressive, surgery. We are thankful for the second option because it gives us hope. The cancer has not spread to other organs. This is all time sensitive we have been told. But through surgery the cancer can be completely removed. This is the option we are leaning towards because it rids the cancer from her body but also because it is significantly less expensive than chemotherapy. The sooner they can perform the surgery the better, before the cancer spreads making it more difficult to operate or to where it is no longer operable.
My aunt Rosario is in high spirits considering. She stopped working after 40 years because the doctor said it would only make her tumor worse. We are a very close family so we are doing our best to keep her in good spirits and not let her get down or depressed even.
When we visit her and get into our regular family routine of sitting around the kitchen table eating, talking, or playing card games, it all goes away and for a few moments we forget there is anything wrong at all. It is when my aunt Rosario excuses herself from the table to go to the restroom or to lay down because of the pain, that we are thrown back into reality.
The doctors can’t believe she stopped working only a couple of weeks ago because for the size of her tumor she shouldn’t have even been able to stand let alone maintain any type of regular activity. It doesn’t surprise me or any of my family because she is an incredibly strong, resilient woman.
There is no limit to what we would be willing to do for this amazing human being. My aunt Rosario doesn’t know yet that we are trying to raise this money for her. When she finds out, she will probably try and convince us otherwise, because why inconvenience others with her struggles. But we are going forward with this anyways and will convince her that there are people out there with big hearts that are looking for ways to help others in order to pay it forward or just for the sake of lending a hand.
Thank you for your time and for this incredible platform that gives hope to those in need.
Thank you.
