Surgery for Mini Dachshund Broc
Donation protected
Update :
As you know it was not in our lovely crooked Broc's best interest to undergo surgery, but he continues to thrive at Rosog Equine & Dashing Hounds Rescue, under the very watchful eye of Pauline....
However, we are always on the look out for support for him and the other animals in the care of Pauline at the rescue,
Pauline has recently taken in some very old mares who need some specialist food and may need some veterinary assistance, so I am keeping this page open for anyone who would like to donate to help support the rescue through these difficult times....
Many thanks
The Trustees of Rosog Equine & Dashing Hounds Rescue and of course Munchkin's Legacy.

Statement on Rescue Dachshund BROC
Firstly, many many thanks for all of your amazing support for young Broc and our fundraising to enable surgery. However, we do have an update and whilst it may not be what we all hoped for, it is in the best interest of Broc and his future health and wellbeing.
On further investigation by Professor Noel Fitzpatrick and following a thorough review with an external ethics committee, it has been agreed that surgery on his front legs is not in Broc’s best interest morally or ethically.
The reason behind this, is the curvature of his spine and his age. He has been this way since birth and is now over 2 years old. Whilst the surgery on his front legs could take place, the impact the surgery could have on a wider scale for Broc is a great cause for concern. With the curvature of his spine, straightening his legs may cause a blockage in his neck/spine resulting in more complex health issues or even worse, having to make the dreadful decision to have him euthanised having just gone through major surgery.
The Trustees at Rosog Equine & Dashing Hounds Rescue together with all other interested parties totally agree that putting Broc through the leg surgery with so many unknowns is NOT in his best interest.
The GOOD NEWS is that Broc will now stay under the care of Pauline in Ireland for the rest of his natural life. We will start him on some pain relief and with the amazing funds you have all raised, we can ensure that he is kept as pain free and as comfortable as possible for a very happy life. I am sure you will all agree with us on this decision, as we are all doing the best that we can for Broc. The vet has been amazing and supportive, and his new owners equally amazing in agreeing to leave him with Pauline where we know he is happy.
You have donated so generously (as you did for our gorgeous Munchkin) and we can assure you that, as with Munchkin, all donations made will be used in an open and transparent way for any other Dachshund who is in desperate need of our help and we will keep you fully informed of this. Due to this change, should you wish to have your donation returned to you, please let us know via our email : [email redacted] and we will do so.
Thank you again for your amazing support and hope that you will continue to keep an eye on young Broc and any other Dashing Hound that needs our help via our various Facebook and Instagram accounts….
Rosog Equine & Dashing Hounds Rescue and Munchkin’s Legacy
===============================================================================
Broc is a gorgeous mini dapple dachshund who came into the care of Rosog Equine & Dashing Hound Rescue in Ireland last year.
He has a number of skeletal issues and has been to see a very special vet in the UK who has said he can help his front legs to enable him to run around properly - as he currently tries to run on his elbows...
Broc is in some discomfort at present, but he is young (just two years old) and has a very bright future ahead of him, if we can improve his front legs. We want the surgery to ensure he is not in pain as he gets older... He has a foster carer lined up near the vet for post op support and a potential fabulous home to go to and have an amazing life... we just need your help to get us there....
Being a rescue, he is not insured, and we need to raise £6,000 to enable us to book him into this special vet for him to work his magic. If we can get this money - we can book him in straight away, we have already raised a huge amount, and this is the final amount to get us over the line... we have drained our wonderful support groups... who continue to be amazing in supporting Broc and others under the care of Rosog Equine & Dashing Hounds Rescue.
