My name is Kristen, and I am organizing this GoFundMe for my parents, Gottfried and Cheryl Fritz, to help with vet expenses for their dog, Luke.

Luke was originally my husband’s dog, and when we had our daughter, we asked my parents to watch him so we could focus on the new baby. This was right as COVID started, and long story short, Luke became my parents’ dog (though we still have frequent visitations!).

Luke was recently diagnosed with mast cell skin cancer and will be undergoing surgery this coming week to remove it. We are very hopeful that treatment will be successful and he will have many more years.

Now for the hard part… The surgery will cost $2500 to $3000, and this is a big strain on my parents, who are retired and on a fixed income. My parents are never the type to ask for help, though they are always the first to help others at a moment’s notice. They didn’t want me to set up this fundraiser, but I know there are many people who know and love my parents and may be able to help, whether it’s financially or just sending thoughts and prayers for successful surgery.

Luke is a very special dog, and we all love him very much. He is my dad’s shadow, and they didn’t even hesitate to schedule the surgery when they found out, even though it will be a large financial strain for them.
