Surgery for little Tugboat

Donation protected

Friends, three days ago I agreed to give safe harbor to a little Tugboat and here he is...Tugboat , the ”Bostonhuahua” lol
For 8 years, Tugboat was the light of his owners life, but sadly, his owner, age 80, was moved into a nursing home and had to say goodbye to his best friend Tugboat.
The owner had no family, no relatives who could take little Tug, so a last effort was made here on Facebook to find a home before shelter/rescue placement. I saw his face and without a nanosecond of thought said I’d take him.

He arrived yesterday, brought over by the owner’s beloved home health provider who had lovingly bathed Tug and all his many beds and sweaters, and so it began..10 am yesterday .
He would not eat which I attributed to grief and anxiety but a friend took one look in his mouth and said his teeth and gums were a horror. I  phoned my vet and was able to bring him right in. After the exam she called and said , “how long have you had this dog?” I looked at my watch and said “three hours”, to which she replied, “well I’m so sorry but I’m about to open a big can of worms on you” and she proceeded to tell me Tug had a level 3 heart murmur and needed most if not all of his teeth removed.
Oh boy...
I asked her to write up an estimate , which she did for his dental surgery and pre-op
bloodwork, but told me she’d need to refer me to a veterinary cardiologist for his heart murmur. We were given a round of antibiotics and in two weeks will meet to discuss the cardio workup/dental surgery.
If you told me one week ago I'd be caught up with a little old sick and smelly dog, I'd say you’re crazy...I'm not prepared for something like that.  But looking at that picture of him on Facebook three days ago, I knew I had to help him, and if everyone could help even a little bit, Tug will have a chance.
I know it’s a difficult confusing time of virus and quarantine, but sometimes the smallest  random acts of kindness can lift your spirit and make your day. ❤️

And that’s why I’m creating a GoFundMe page for our little old man friend because
I know he is worth every penny of the $2000 estimate for his treatment.

I should add that the elderly owner’s home health provider promised she’d bring Tug for a visit to the nursing home where he now lives once the quarantine is lifted ...even more motivation to get him healthy and happy
