Help Gemma the hound puppy get back to health

Hi friends and fellow animal lovers!
I am so grateful to have adopted my puppy Gemma back in early Feb this year when she was 3 months old from the awesome rescue foundation Pupstarz Rescue. I fell in love right away. She has the sweetest personality, the cutest hound dog face, and like a true New Yorker she’s super social and not shy at all.
I chatted with her foster mom and learned that she was the founder of Woof Wellness, an organization that partners with a rescue foundation to host yoga and Pilates classes, while having rescued puppies attend, hoping they will be adopted by participants.
She told me Gemma was a smart, sweet, loving puppy and asked if I would continue to bring her to Woof Wellness classes. I shared that I was a group fitness/yoga teacher and that I would love to be involved teaching at Woof Wellness immediately. In my 20 years of teaching group fitness, I’ve never seen as much happiness and good energy with class participants as I have at Woof Wellness.…and that is what it’s all about! The joy that puppies and dogs radiate to humans makes the experience one of a kind and Gemma loves being there. She sits on my mat and is so happy to be around all the other puppies and people in the room.
Gemma now needs our help! Unfortunately, I’ve learned that Gemma is suffering from osteochondrosis in both her shoulder blades as well as a possible congenital issue or prior trauma in her right elbow. My trips to the vet, x-rays, and meds have already added up to a large expense. It’s going to be too hard for me to cover these unexpected costs on my own. After consulting with numerous vets, we are estimating medical expenses to be upwards of $8,000 to $10,000 due to x-rays, medicine and probable surgery.
Gemma is the most fun-loving little puppy, who loves other dogs, kids and people. She deserves to live a pain-free life and get medical treatments that can help her to do so. We live near parks and there are dogs everywhere in our neighborhood, but going outside has been challenging because she isn’t allowed to play. She’s also missing out on her buddies at the Woof Wellness classes, and being a part of the joy that it brings to everyone there.
I am so grateful for any support to help Gemma get the care she needs and thank you all from the bottom of my heart.
With Gratitude,
Nina & Gemma
