Hello –
Dory is our sweet 3-year-old Lhasa Apso who on Saturday, 8/17 suddenly became paralyzed and lost use of her two rear legs. We took her to the Vet who examined her an said one of her discs ruptured which is putting pressure on her spine and nerve making it so she cannot walk or move or relieve herself.
The Vet provided us with anti-inflammatory medication and steroids and showed us how to massage her bladder so she can urinate but ultimately Dory needs an MRI and will require a special surgery of her spine to remove/repair her ruptured disc.
We’ve been shopping different hospitals specializing in this type of surgery and we found Southern CA Vet Specialty Hospital in Irvine and their services are somewhat affordable but still a stretch at $10k.
Dory needs to get surgery as soon as possible to give her the best quality of life and to prevent any damage to her bladder. We realize that she will require physical therapy, medication, and additional care after the surgery. We are hopeful but also realize we cannot afford everything she will need. Having a 13 yr. old Pekingese (her buddy) and two small children and this becomes super difficult.
Anything you can give will go towards her surgery and aftercare.
Please feel free to send any questions you may have to my email at [email redacted]
Dory and us are especially grateful for anything you can provide. We are hopeful and forever grateful for the support. God bless!
Thank you!
