Surgery for diaphragm endometriosis

Donation protected

Hi my name is Helen I am looking to raise funds to continue surgery for stage 4 endometriosis that has also spread to my diaphragm.

I have been in chronic pain every day for the last 11 months and been neglected multiple times by the NHS. My symptoms and pain and internal bleeding has been blamed on mental health.

Due to being neglected by the NHS I had no choice but to pay privately to get diagnosed, this took 8 months along with many tests that amounted to thousands of pounds. Last month I was able to have surgery privately and I was diagnosed with stage 4 endometriosis that had attacked many of my organs unfortunately I had to take out a loan to cover this. I did push beforehand with the NHS and was told it was around a 2 year wait for surgery and was told I don't have endometriosis and look else where for my pain.

After surgery I am still continuing to have pain daily and it's now affecting my breathing and be told that I will need more surgery to attempt to remove endometriosis from my diaphragm. Many woman are suffering from this awful disease and many like me have been unheard.

If anyone can make a donation, I would really appreciate this or if you cannot afford to donation then please share to raise awareness of endometriosis. Unfortunately there is no cure for endometriosis but surgery can help relieve symptoms and improve quality of life.

Thank you for taking your time to read this.

What is endometriosis?

Endometriosis is a chronic, progressive disease characterized by the growth of endometrial-like tissue outside the uterus. These extraneous uterine outgrowths that respond to monthly cycles can occur in several places including the ovaries, fallopian tubes, uterosacral ligaments, and bladder.

Apart from these regions, endometriosis may also rarely occur in areas such as the diaphragm, upper abdominal cavities, and kidneys.

Diaphragmatic endometriosis is a rare condition that occurs in only 1-1.5% of total endometriosis cases. It can also be present alongside thoracic endometriosis (endometriosis inside the chest cavity).
