This is not something neither of us ever imagined doing in order to cover the costs of our pups, but here we are.


Clem has torn a tendon in her front left ankle. Crazy enough, this is one of the worst injuries a dog can have. She is in a lot of pain, on anti-inflammatory meds and painkillers. She can't walk for more than a few steps. The first night after the ER, we got home at 3:30AM, and she cried through the night. 


Between the two appointments we've taken her to thus far we have paid $1600. 


We've explored all of the options, and it looks like surgery is the only route. Because she also has a heart murmur, they have to bring in a heart specialist to make sure that the anesthesia they give her will be safe. They are ordering the metal parts for her surgery which is next week, either Wednesday or Thursday, depending on how her appointment tomorrow goes. 


The appointment tomorrow (Wednesday March 5) is another $2700, and the surgery next week will be anywhere from $6-7000


The total cost will be about $11,000 and the hospital requires payment in full up front.


We've been able to extend a bit of credit, and pooled our savings, but we're still a bit short. 


The surgery needs to be done in a timely manner so her condition doesn’t worsen and become less treatable and extend her recovery time. Even post surgery she won't be able to use stairs or play with Lars (one of her favorite things) for two months.


Cole and I are uncomfortable reaching out, but my grandma told me something that is true, if I was in her shoes I would do the same by helping out. I thought, hey, this might be worth a shot. 


Clem and her brother Lars are the loves of our lives, and I know how much joy they bring to our friends and families. If you can help out, we will be forever thankful for your generosity.
