Meet My Brave Bear

This is my daring and adorable baby Bear — a ten-pound bundle of love, sass, and tail wags. He’s a sweet and feisty toy schnauzer that I rescued two years ago when he was just two years old. From day one, he stole my heart and made every day brighter.

A Scary Diagnosis

Recently, Bear was diagnosed with a portosystemic shunt — a serious congenital condition where blood vessels bypass his liver, preventing his body from properly detoxifying. This means toxins are building up in his little body, making him feel unwell and tired.

After a CT scan at the University of Minnesota Small Animal Hospital, specialists confirmed the shunt and highly recommended surgery as the best chance to give Bear a normal, healthy life.

This surgery isn’t just a treatment — it’s his lifeline. Without it, Bear faces a lifetime of complications and worsening health. With it, he has a strong chance at a full recovery and many more years of tail wags, zoomies, and snuggles. ️
