Many of you have had the opportunity to stay at our home and have met Yeyni, our dear housekeeper. She is a hardworking, generous woman who is always smiling. She has two children, and one of them, Benner, who is 16 years old, lives with cerebral palsy.
Over the years, Benner has undergone various therapies that have helped improve his mobility and well-being. However, he now needs two important surgeries that could mark a turning point in his life. The first is a distal femoral extension osteotomy on his left leg to correct a bone deformity. Later on, he will need a similar surgery on his right leg.
These procedures aim to improve his posture and mobility, and there is a possibility that, over time, Benner may be able to walk on his own.
Each surgery costs approximately $50,000 MXN ($2,700usd), totaling $100,000 MXN ($5,400usd).
Breakdown of the first surgery:
• Hospitalization: $22,500 MXN ($1,200usd)
• Surgical implants: $14,000 MXN ($750usd)
• Exams: Around $4,000 MXN ($250usd)
• Post Surgery: $9,500 MXN ($500usd)
Since Yeyni started working with us, we’ve done our best to support her whenever we could. She shared this need with us without asking for anything. But after learning about her situation, we felt we couldn’t just stand by.
That’s why we decided to make this appeal:
If you have stayed at the house and Yeyni has taken care of you, we would like to ask for a $100 donation. Of course, feel free to give more if you’d like—or less if $100 isn’t doable for you.
Together, we can help make this first surgery happen as soon as possible.
Thank you for any help you can provide.
