V. Rene Miranda - Surgery and My Healing Journey

Greetings, my beautiful friends and family!

I have started and stopped writing this statement over 20 times. I love to help and give to my friends and family; it’s like breathing for me, so natural. So when it comes to asking for financial help for myself, it isn’t easy. However, I’m in need, and I ask for your support.

I am having surgery on May 3, 2022, and unfortunately, my insurance doesn’t cover the entire expense. My out-of-pocket cost is $1,500. I would prefer not to go into details regarding my surgery; Please know it’s necessary and will help me live a healthier life.

I recently started a new position that I loved, but it ended after two weeks due to the business closing for the unforeseeable future. I am hoping to find another position post my eight-week recovery period. Finding employment, especially during a pandemic, has been challenging due to being immune-compromised as the result of my kidney transplant. Nonetheless, I am hopeful I will find a position I love.

The New Year also came with a healing journey for me as well. After my surgery and recovery, I will be moving into new housing. The remainder of the funds I am asking for, will help me secure an apartment and pay for my rent, utilities, food, GoFundme fees (alternate options available, as GFM takes a percentage), and other miscellaneous expenses for the first few months as I search to secure employment. I would appreciate any amount you are able to give. Asking y’all for help is hard, but I am trying to get better at asking for what I need.
